Ahhhhh. The other morning, I found myself paused at the window, drawn to the golden of the early sunlight and the glistening sounds of the birds singing outside. There was green grass peaking from beneath patches of snow. The sky was clear and I couldn’t help but take in the deepest, most enlivening of breaths.
Everything felt new again.
The magic of spring is upon us. This year, I am making a commitment to myself to stay present during this season of burgeoning growth and tender renewal. I know that all of the silent, dark, deep-underground-work of the winter will soon emerge from the cold soil. How precious it is to be present, to witness this process of rebirth in the world… and in ourselves.
Everything in me is responding to this transition of seasons. With it, I feel myself being called to focus intently on the tiny seeds I have planted in seasons past that are now breaking through to the surface. I feel myself wanting to ground, to put my fingers deep in the soil, and I feel myself wanting to prepare my garden for seeds yet to come. I feel the call to cleanse, renew, reinvigorate… to grow.
I cannot wait to see what flowers will bloom, for all of us.
To facilitate this growth, here are 5 Incredible Practices I’ve committed to this year for an intentional transition into spring:
- Declutter: Spring is a great time to let go of what no longer serves you. Take time to declutter your home and workspace, your car, or even that random cupboard that drives you nuts. Doing this allows you to creating more space for fresh energy, new ideas, and more mindful behaviors. Remember, you can donate, recycle, or sell the items you no longer need or want. Decluttering doesn’t have to just involve physical objects and spaces, either. What mental, emotional, or behavioral junk can you let go of this spring?
- Connect with Nature: Spring is a time of renewal and growth, and there’s no better way to connect with that energy than by spending time in nature. Take a walk, go on a hike, or simply sit outside and take in the sights and sounds of spring. Even a few minutes to bask in a patch of sunlight or admire the stalwart crocuses will help to kindle your own springtime energy.
- Set Intentions: As you transition into a new season, take time to reflect on what you want to manifest in the coming months. Are there fresh paths, big ideas, or new ways of being that you would like to cultivate? Write down your intentions and visualize them coming to fruition.
- Practice Gratitude: Spring is a time of abundance and renewal, so take time to appreciate the beauty around you. Make a list of things you’re grateful for and reflect on them daily. Gratitude allows us to feel safe and loved in our present while giving us a North Star to guide what we would like to step closer toward in the future.
- Create Rituals: Rituals can help you anchor into a sense of intention and mindfulness in your daily life. Consider starting a morning or evening ritual that includes activities like meditation, journaling, or stretching to help you transition into spring with a sense of calm, purpose, and easeful energy.
